Penang Island’s Pearl e-Aduan: an older complaint may need a different status check

Following up a municipal complaint is easier when the record’s date and reference are kept together. Penang Island’s Pearl e-Aduan entrance carries a specific notice for complaints made through the earlier e-Complaint system before 1 April 2024. That makes the age of the record relevant before you try to look it up.

Source checked: 20 October 2026. This guide covers MBPP’s public information. No account was created, complaint submitted or private status record accessed.

Start with the actual record date

The official Pearl e-Aduan entrance directs people checking complaints made before 1 April 2024 through the e-Complaint system to contact the MBPP hotline. The entrance also displays sign-in and account-registration options. It does not establish that a particular historical record is available inside a new account.

Our recommendation is to locate the original acknowledgement first. Keep its submission date, reference and the channel used. This is especially useful if a complaint began as a phone call, a message or a record created by someone else on your behalf.

Record field Keep with the enquiry
Date and original channel Check whether the pre-1April2024 notice applies
Reference Use the acknowledgement for that record
Confirmed stage Sent, acknowledged, information requested or outcome communicated

Acknowledgement is not the same as resolution

MBPP’s official FAQ, dated 8 December 2022, lists reporting channels and examples including cleanliness, road damage and public facilities. Its acknowledgement wording should not be turned into a promise that any physical problem will be repaired within the same period.

Separate the stages in your own notes: report sent, acknowledgement received, additional information requested and outcome communicated. Only record a stage that is actually shown or communicated. A screenshot of a login screen is not a receipt for a submitted complaint.

Describe the site, not a presumed cause

For a non-emergency maintenance report, useful information includes the exact place, the date observed and a concise account of what you saw. If using a photograph, explain the direction or landmark that makes its location understandable. Avoid publishing another person’s private details with it.

Keep observation separate from accusation. A damaged public facility can be described without guessing who caused the damage or asserting a legal breach. This publication does not determine responsibility for a particular road, property or incident.

Follow the council’s current channel

Use the contact information presented in the current MBPP portal for the older-record route rather than relying on a copied number that may become outdated. This article deliberately links to the source instead of creating a parallel contact directory.

MBPP’s portal is identified as the City Council of Penang Island system. Do not assume an issue elsewhere in Penang uses this same record process. Confirm the relevant authority for the location before sending a report.

A good follow-up asks about one identifiable record and includes the original reference. That is different from repeatedly creating new reports because an old one is hard to find. This guide makes no response-time, repair-time or successful-recovery guarantee.
